Canadian dollar and business outlook

WINNIPEG, March 22 (MarketsFarm) – The Canadian dollar holding relatively steady Monday morning, seeing some consolidation to start the week.
At 8:55 a.m. CDT Monday morning the Canadian dollar was at US$0.7999 or US$1=C$1.2502 which compares with Friday’s North American close of US$0.7996 or US$1=C$1.2506.
Bank of Canada Deputy Governor Toni Gravelle is set to give a speech on Tuesday that could provide some clues on future interest rate policy.
Uncertainty over the ongoing pandemic kept caution in the financial markets on Monday. While increasing vaccination rates have created some optimism, new variants and renewed lockdown measures in parts of the world dimmed that optimism to some extent.
West Texas Intermediate was up by 0.3 per cent, at US$61.61 per barrel.
The TSX was down by 47.86 points at 8:55 CDT to trade at 18,806.14 points.
