WINNIPEG, April 23 (MarketsFarm) – The Canadian dollar was holding steady Friday morning, seeing some consolidation ahead of the weekend.
At 8:57 a.m. CDT Thursday morning, the Canadian dollar was at US$0.8004 or US$1=C$1.2494 which compares with Thursday’s North American close of US$0.8000 or US$1=C$1.2500.
Canadian manufacturing sales increased by 3.5 per cent in March, according to flash estimates from Statistics Canada. The official estimate is scheduled for release on May 14.
West Texas Intermediate crude oil was up by 0.3 per cent in early activity to trade at US$61.64 per barrel.
The TSX was stronger, up by 29.15 points at 8:57 CDT, trading at 19,060.79 points.
