WINNIPEG, January 25 – The Canadian dollar was stronger against its US counterpart in early activity on Wednesday.
The greenback was weaker with ideas that US President Donald Trump could focus on trade protectionism rather than fiscal policy, which allowed the loonie to advance.
At 8:45 CST Wednesday, the Canadian dollar was at US$0.7634 or US$=C$1.3099, which compares with Tuesday’s North American close of US$0.7603 or US$1=C$1.3152.
In Canadian domestic data, employers had 402,000 job vacancies in the third quarter, and the national job vacancy rate was 2.5 per cent, Statistics Canada said in a report on Wednesday.
The TSX was up 25.10 points at 8:45 CST Wednesday morning to sit at 15,635.79.
