Winnipeg, February 6 – The Canadian dollar was lower compared to its US counterpart Monday morning, as bond yields retreated to their lowest position in a week.

Losses in natural gas contributed to the weakness.

At 8:59 CST Monday morning the Canadian dollar was at US$0.7638 or C$1.3092 which compares with Friday’s North American close of US$0.7676 or C$1.3028.

At 8:59 CST Monday morning, the TSX was down 6.06 points, or 0.04%, at 15,470.33.

The market was undergoing a slight correction in the wake of Friday’s gains.

Advances in gold helped limit the losses.
