Canadian Dollar and Business Outlook: Little change for loonie, crude oil

WINNIPEG – The Canadian dollar was relatively steady on Tuesday morning, as there was little movement in the United States dollar and in crude oil prices.

The loonie was at US$0.7382 or US$1=C$1.3546, down from US$0.7384 or US$1=C$1.3543 on Monday. The United States Dollar Index jumped 0.24 points to 103.54.

Despite increasing supply and demand concerns from China, crude oil was steady to higher. Brent crude oil was unchanged at US$84.46 per barrel. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) gained US$0.13 at US$80.85/barrel.

The TSX/S&P Composite Index shed 15.99 points to 19,768.88.

Gold added US$0.20 per ounce to US$1,923.20.
