Canadian Dollar and Business Outlook: Loonie, crude oil return to the red

Glacier FarmMedia | MarketsFarm – The Canadian dollar retreated on Thursday morning.

The loonie was at US$0.6948 or US$1=C$1.4393 as of 8:36 a.m. CST, compared to Wednesday’s close at US$0.6976 or US$1=C$1.4334. The United States Dollar Index gained 0.19 of a point at 109.28.

Crude oil was slightly lower on Thursday. Brent crude oil was down US$0.11 at US$81.92 per barrel. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) dipped US$0.13 at US$79.91/barrel.

The TSX/S&P Composite Index added 73.28 points at 24,862.58.

Gold jumped US$28.70 per ounce at US$2,746.50.
