Canadian Dollar and Business Outlook: Loonie hold firm

Glacier FarmMedia | MarketsFarm – The Canadian dollar was relatively steady on Monday morning .

As of 8:42 am CST, the loonie was at US$0.7316 or US$1=C$1.3668, compared to Wednesday’s close of US$0.7313 or US$1=C$1.3674.

On the U.S. Dollar Index, the greenback shed 0.003 of a point at 97.695.

Benchmark crude oil prices were stronger on Monday morning, as possible Middle East supply disruptions outweighed hopes of an end to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

West Texas Intermediate gained US$1.29 at US$58.03 per barrel and Brent crude increased US$1.30 at US$61.94.

In morning activity, the TSX/S&P Composite Index slipped 95.28 points at 31,904.48.

Gold dropped US$158.40 at US$4,394.30 per ounce.
