Canadian Dollar and Business Outlook: Loonie makes small gain

Glacier FarmMedia | MarketsFarm – The Canadian dollar was on the rise Tuesday morning.

The loonie was at US$0.6947 or US$1=C$1.4395 as of 8:31 a.m. CST, compared to Monday’s close at US$0.6939 or US$1=C$1.4411. The United States Dollar Index lost 0.35 of a point at 109.60.

Crude oil underwent a slight correction after prices jumped on Monday due to U.S. sanctions on Russia. Brent crude oil was down US$0.60 at US$80.41 per barrel. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) dropped US$0.70 at US$78.12/barrel.

The TSX/S&P Composite Index added 55.55 points at 24,591.87.

Gold shed US$4.80 per ounce at US$2,673.80.
