WINNIPEG – The Canadian dollar made a slight gain to begin the week.
The loonie closed at US$0.7384 or US$1=C$1.3543 on Monday, compared to US$0.7379 or US$1=C$1.3552 on Friday. The United States Dollar Index was down 0.02 of a point at 103.35.
Crude oil was lower due to demand risk in China and the U.S.
Brent crude oil was down US$0.34/barrel at US$84.46. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) dropped US$0.39 at US$80.86/barrel.
The TSX/S&P Composite Index declined 33.52 points at 19,784.87.
Gold added US$7.10 at US$1,923.60 per ounce.
