Canadian Financial Close: TSX finishes flat

WINNIPEG, May 12 – The Canadian dollar ended slightly
higher against its US counterpart on Thursday, following gains
in oil.
The Canadian dollar closed at US$0.7792 or US$1=C$1.2834,
which compares with Wednesday’s close of US$0.7781, or
US$1=C$1.2851.
The Standard & Poor’s/TSX Composite Index finished flat
Thursday, as traders took profits in gold and copper due to
concerns over tepid Chinese growth.
Small gains in the energy and financial sectors offset a
1.8% decline in metals.
The S&P/TSX Composite index settled at 13,787.80.

Canada’s agricultural sector performed as follows:
AGT Food and Ingredients—–dn $ 3.53 at $ 38.52
Agrium Incorporated———-up $ 0.91 at $112.26
Buhler Industries————up $ 0.18 at $ 5.04
Maple Leaf Foods————-dn $ 0.09 at $ 29.72
Potash Corp. of Sask———dn $ 0.15 at $ 20.34
