Many canola fields are in a not-so-ideal situation, with slow growth just as insecticide efficacy begins to taper off in seed treatments — and flea beetle populations are increasing.
Calls have been coming in this past week on flea beetle feeding and damaged canola. Farmers will want to get out to their fields and see if conditions warrant spraying, according to the Manitoba CropChatter website, which offers a checklist for growers to follow.
