Prairie wheat and durum growers have been given an extension to July 9 at 2 p.m. Winnipeg time to apply to price their 2009-10 deliveries into the 2010-11 pool.
Using new-pool pricing, farmers can deliver in the current crop year but opt to be paid the pool return for the subsequent crop year.
Every farmer or landlord who wants to price his or her own grain into the 2010-11 pool must complete a new-pool pricing sign-up application.

The current fee for pool switching is $3.50-$3.75 per tonne for wheat and $5.50 per tonne for durum, plus a $25 administration fee. However, the per-tonne fees can change daily and vary from class to class.
Switching grain from one year to the next creates uncertainty regarding pool size and affects the pool returns of both the old- and new-crop years, the CWB said.
The per-tonne fee is meant to offset those impacts and is regularly updated to reflect changes in the pool return outlook (PRO) and market conditions, the board said. The CWB calculates the fee based on the difference between the old- and new-crop year PRO, current average sales values and risk.
