One of two buildings that made up Delta Foods’ maple syrup processing and storage operations at Brockville, Ont. has been sold after a previous offer for both buildings fell through.
Toronto produce company Dominion Citrus, which owns the 4.15 acres of former Delta Foods property and the site’s two buildings, said Friday it had just completed the sale of the 24,150-square foot building that day for gross proceeds of $460,000 to an unnamed buyer.
A previous unnamed buyer had planned to buy the entire property for $820,000 but asked Dominion in October to release it from the deal “due to an inability to raise satisfactory financing.”

The two buildings, totalling about 44,000 square feet, and the land came into Dominion Citrus’ possession when it bought Delta Foods International in 2003.
Dominion Citrus said it will “continue to actively market the remaining building for sale.”
Dominion owns produce distributor Bo-Fruits, Toronto companies Meschino Banana Co. and Country Fresh Packaging, and Ontario-based Dominion Farm Produce.
Dominion sold its Delta Foods operations last year and its stake in Humpty Dumpty Snack Foods in 2005. In June alone, Dominion sold its Apple Valley Juice business to Quebec’s Lassonde for $1.54 million, and also sold its lease on two wholesale selling units in Toronto’s Ontario Food Terminal for $3.5 million.
