Growers of coriander, caraway and dill can now use DuPont Canada’s Group 7 herbicide Lorox L on several broadleaf weeds as well as some grasses such as green foxtail.

The company has picked up the added registration on its linuron herbicide brand, which DuPont described as a “mainstay” of the fruit and vegetable sectors, for the 2008 growing season.

The liquid product is registered for use in orchards as well as chokecherries and saskatoons, in shelterbelts and in vegetable crops such as carrots, potatoes and asparagus.

“Weed control choices in specialized crops like these are often much more limited than in the main western crops,” said cereals and oilseeds product manager Travis Schoonbaert in DuPont’s press release. “This sometimes makes weed control a challenge.”

Lorox L is also already approved for barley, oats and spring wheat (mixed with MCPA) and for certain uses in field corn and soybeans. Cropping or rotation restrictions are listed on the product label.
