Silencer, a new pyrethroid insecticide for use in cereal, oilseed, pulse, fruit and vegetable crops, has picked up registration in Canada.
According to Makhteshim Agan of North America, the product’s marketer in Canada, Silencer’s active ingredient is cyhalothrin-lambda, the same Group 3 insecticide ingredient used in Syngenta’s Matador 120EC.

ag chemical maker, said Silencer “delivers the same dependable insect control, but at value pricing.”
Insects on the Silencer label include grasshoppers, diamondback moth larvae, bertha armyworms, lygus bugs, soybean aphids, Colorado potato beetles, European corn borers, and flea beetles, among others, the company said in a release.
Silencer is now registered for tank mixes with Horizon or Achieve herbicides or Tilt fungicide, and more tank-mix options will be added as part of MANA’s research and development program, the company said.
“Silencer will be available through regular retail channels at a fair price, and without any of the complex bundled pricing packages that some other manufacturers use,” said MANA’s commercial business manager Dale Kushner.
