New Brunswick’s assistant deputy minister of health has been named as the province’s new top bureaucrat for agriculture.
Jean-Marc Dupuis was named Thursday by Premier David Alward as deputy minister of agriculture, aquaculture and fisheries, effective Jan. 24.
Dupuis replaces Jim McKay, who had served in the ag post for about two years before his death Dec. 9 at age 62.
As assistant deputy minister of health since 2008, Dupuis was responsible for planning, sustainability, e-health and corporate privacy.
Previously, he had served as CEO for New Brunswick’s community colleges and as an assistant deputy minister in the province’s post-secondary education, training and labour department.
Alward on Thursday said Dupuis “brings a wealth of experience, expertise and talent to this senior position.”
