The Canadian Wheat Board’s weather and crop surveillance unit reports that fieldwork is underway in parts of southern Alberta and southwestern Saskatchewan in preparation for spring seeding.

In its weekly bulletin, the CWB says most snow cover has now melted in central and northern growing regions, but fields require one to two weeks of dry weather before seeding can proceed.

Flood conditions in Manitoba will delay seeding, particularly in the Red River Valley. Commencement of seeding in these areas will depend on weather after floodwaters recede.
