Cider producers in Quebec have unveiled a new Cidres du Quebec label to promote their products in provincial SAQ (Societe des alcools du Quebec) liquor stores.
SAQ CEO Philippe Duval said in a provincial release Monday that the new label will offer Quebec’s artisanal cider producers increased visibility in the SAQ’s outlets, and the organization believes it will contribute to awareness and increased sales of Quebec ciders.
Quebec’s cider production now includes a total of 115 products, with total net sales of about $10 million, the province said.

Most of Manitoba harvest wraps up for 2025
Manitoba Agriculture issued its final crop report of 2025, showing the overall provincewide harvest at 97 per cent complete as of Oct. 20. Nearly all major crops have finished combining, with 37 per cent of Manitoba’s sunflowers finished, plus 71 per cent of grain corn and small amounts of soybeans and potatoes left to do.
SAQ said it would further support craft cider producers in their market development by leading a trade mission in January 2010 to the SIVAL specialty agriculture conference in France, which includes events for wine and cider producers.
Provincial Agriculture Minister Laurent Lessard said in the same release that the new label is an example of the confidence and pride Quebec’s retailers show in its products, and such visibility is “essential” for producers to respond to the growth market for consumers seeking products made within the province.
The province, he noted, allocated $250,000 in 2008-09 for promotion of Quebec cider production.
