Chicago cattle futures climbed on Friday after dipping on Thursday due to technical selling. Lean hogs also rose.
Most-active October live cattle contracts settled at 239.650 cents a pound, up 2.725 cents. December live cattle closed at 240.775 cents a pound, up 2.175.
Most-traded October feeder cattle closed at 364.475 cents per pound, a gain of 2.950 cents. November feeders settled at 363.600 cents, up 3.575 cents a pound.
Choice boxed beef gained $1.00 to end the afternoon at $415.41 per cwt. Select boxed beef was valued at $390.00 per cwt, up $4.16.
Most-active October lean hog futures settled at 95.025 cents per pound, up 0.750 cents. December lean hogs closed at 87.400 cents a pound, up 0.425 cents.
Pork carcass cutout value settled at $114.32 per cwt, up $2.83 in the USDA’s afternoon report.
