Feed Grains: Ukrainian grain production rises

Winnipeg – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian and world feed grains markets on Wednesday, Dec. 27.
Feed barley bids in the key cattle feeding area of Lethbridge, Alberta were up slightly during the week ended Dec. 22 to range from C$220 to C$224 per tonne, according to the latest pricing information from the provincial government. Feed wheat prices were roughly the same at C$218 to C$224 per tonne in Lethbridge.
Corn futures at the Chicago Board of Trade finished one cent higher in technical trade on Wednesday. The market received some spillover support from the wheat market. Slow farmer selling in the U.S. was supportive.

Ukraine has raised its forecast for this year’s grain production. According to the country’s agriculture ministry, output will hit 62.3 million tonnes. That compares to the previous forecast of 62 million.
Nearly a third of Kazakhstan’s grain harvest is rated as being average in quality. According to a report by UkrAgroConsult, 3.1 million tonnes was rated as third class. About 1.5 was considered fourth class while nine percent was fifth class.
