WINNIPEG, January 18 – The following is a glance at the news moving markets globally.
– In the 12 months to November, the number of regular EI beneficiaries in Canada increased by 26,700, or 4.9 per cent, Statistics Canada said in a report on Wednesday.
In November, 574,500 people received regular Employment Insurance (EI) benefits, essentially unchanged from the previous month.
– US consumer prices increased in December, according to reports out of the country on Wednesday.
The country’s Consumer Price Index increased by 0.3 per cent in December, following a 0.2 per cent increase in November.
Analysts say prices were pushed up by higher gasoline and rental prices.
