Glacier FarmMedia — The following is a glance at the news moving markets in Canada and globally.

• Famine is spreading in war-torn Sudan, said reports from international aid groups, with thousands of people forced to flee as the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) advanced through the Darfur region. There were also reports of mass killings of hundreds of civilians in the city of al-Fashir, according to the United Nations.

• OPEC+ announced over the weekend that it would raise crude oil production by 137,000 barrels per day in December but would pause subsequent increases in the first quarter of 2026. The announced pause in production increases did little to boost crude prices, with analysts still expecting a global oil surplus.

• Prime Minister Mark Carney’s minority Liberal government will unveil their first budget on Tuesday, with support of at least one opposition party needed to pass. Ongoing trade disputes with the United States and China provide the backdrop to the fiscal update.
