WINNIPEG, June 15 (MarketsFarm) – The following is a glance at the news moving markets in Canada and globally.

– There are growing fears around the world that the COVID-19 pandemic could be resurging. In the United States on Monday more than 20 states cited increases in the number of reported cases caused by the deadly coronavirus. Both in India and Ghana over 11,000 new cases were reported. Also, in many other countries, including China, have witnessed upticks recently. Since late December, there have been more than 7.9 million cases of COVID-19 reported worldwide with almost 434,000 deaths and about 3.8 million recoveries, according to Johns Hopkins University.

– Documents presented by the defence on June 12 at the extradition hearing for Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou in Vancouver, stated the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) was aware of her pending arrest and such would have caused an international furor. The documents also said officials from the United States FBI were not present for Meng’s arrest at the Vancouver airport in December 2018 as not to create “a perception of influence.” Meng could be extradited to the U.S. where she is facing charges of bank fraud.

– There have been 14 confirmed cases of Ebola and three probable cases in an outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo with 11 deaths, according to the National Institute of Biomedical Research on Monday. Also, the World Health Organization reported more than 2,500 people in Congo have been vaccinated for Ebola. Worse yet for the country, a measles outbreak has killed over 6,000 people and the country has about 4,800 cases of COVID-19 with 112 deaths.
