WINNIPEG, Jan. 12 (MarketsFarm) – The following is a glance at the news moving markets in Canada and globally.

– Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will shuffle his cabinet on Tuesday as his Liberal government positions itself ahead of a likely spring election. Manitoba MP Jim Carr, who had been battling cancer, is said to be returning to cabinet. Reports also state that foreign minister Francois-Philippe Champagne is to become science and industry minister, with transportation minister Marc Garneau said to be going to foreign affairs. Ontario backbencher Omar Alghabra is to replace Garneau. Trudeau is said to be removing ministers who aren’t running in the next election.

– United States Vice-President Mike Pence is being pressured to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove President Donald Trump from power. The House of Representatives will vote on a motion on Tuesday that calls on Pence to use a clause in the amendment that allows the vice-president and a majority of the cabinet to remove the president. If Pence doesn’t, the House will then proceed with impeachment on Wednesday, charging Trump with inciting an insurrection.

– Interpol issued three red notices on Tuesday in connection to the massive blast that devastated Beirut in August, which killed 200 people and injured more than 6,000 others. The notices are for Russian businessman Igor Grechushkin, said to be the owner of the ship that delivered the ammonium nitrate into Beirut in 2013; the ship’s Russian captain, Borys Prokoshew; and Portuguese national Jorge Moreira, who allegedly purchased the ammonium nitrate. The red notices are not binding on countries, unlike international arrest warrants.
