– The United States corn crop was 97 per cent as of June 8, on track with the five-year average, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Emergence was at 90 per cent, two points above average and crop ratings were up three points at 71 per cent good to excellent. The U.S. soybean crop was 90 per cent planted, two points above average, while emergence was normal at 75 per cent. Conditions were up one point at 69 per cent good to excellent. The U.S. winter wheat crop was 88 per cent headed, two points above average, with harvest three points below average at four per cent and ratings up two points at 54 per cent good to excellent. The spring wheat crop was 82 per cent emerged, one point above average, with conditions improving by three points at 53 per cent.

– Argentina’s Rosario Grain Exchange said in a report released on Friday that ongoing trade discussions between the U.S. and Vietnam could reduce Argentina’s share of Vietnam’s corn and soymeal import market. Argentina accounts for more than 50 per cent of Vietnam’s corn imports and 65 per cent of soymeal imports. Vietnam is seeking up to US$2 billion in U.S. agricultural imports and firms from the country have already signed agreements worth US$800 million for U.S. corn, soymeal, wheat and DDGs.
