- United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken visited Jerusalem on Thursday reiterating the country’s support for Israel in its fight against Hamas. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked the U.S. “for standing with Israel today, tomorrow and always.”
- Israeli air attacks on the Gaza Strip continued Thursday, with a ground offensive expected soon. While aid groups are warning of an impeding humanitarian crisis in the small territory of 2.3 million people, Israel has said there will be no humanitarian exemptions to its siege until all hostages are freed.

- Russian President Vladimir Putin was in Kyrgyzstan on Thursday in a rare trip out of the country. Putin met with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov and is expected to take part in meetings of the Commonwealth of Independent States on Friday. Putin was indicted for war crimes by the International Criminal Court earlier this year, but Russia does not recognize the ICC’s jurisdiction and Kyrgyzstan has not signed on.
