Hog Prices Stumble – for Oct. 25, 2010

U. S. hog futures tumbled to their lowest price in seven months at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange last Monday on pressure from an abundance of hogs and lower cash prices in key Midwest markets. USDA reported the average Iowa/Minnesota hog price at $62.99 per cwt. The price has been steadily dropping and was down $8 from the previous week. In addition to more hogs, hog weights are increasing.
