WINNIPEG, MB, May 28, 2018 (CNS Canada) – ICE Futures
Canada canola contracts were weaker at midday Monday, as rains
over the weekend in Western Canada weighed on markets.
Most areas of the Prairies received rain over the weekend,
but there are still areas that are on the drier side which is
limiting losses. A weaker Canadian dollar is also lending
support to contracts.
American markets are closed due to the Memorial Day
holiday, which means the canola market is trading on its own
today. As one Winnipeg based trader said it’s “flopping around
like a fish on the deck.”
About 4,300 canola contracts had traded as of 10:21 CDT.
