Canada canola contracts were slightly higher Tuesday morning,
following the latest tariff targeting tweet from United States
President Donald Trump.
Chicago Board of Trade soybeans and meal contracts were
down, while soyoil contracts were higher.
Trump tweeted Tuesday morning that, “Tariffs are the
greatest! Either a country which has treated the United States
unfairly on Trade negotiates a fair deal, or it gets hit with
Tariffs.” Adding that everyone is talking and that the U.S. is
the “piggy bank” for other countries.
Dry and hot Western Canada received beneficial rainfall,
however some of the driest areas were missed.
The Canadian dollar is slightly stronger, trading roughly a
few hundredth of a cent higher than close Monday.
About 2,200 canola contracts had traded as of 8:40 CDT
Tuesday morning.
