The Agriculture and Food Council’s second annual membership drive under its new structure is underway as the organization prepares to add lines of business and develop new partnerships.
“The Agriculture and Food Council (AFC) attracted a diverse group of members last year, and continues to strive to represent the diagonal cross-section of the agriculture and food industry,” said chair Heather Broughton.
Organizations that have paid the annual $200 membership fee and individuals who have paid the annual $50 fee by May 10 will be eligible to cast one vote each for three vacant director positions at the AGM to be held June 21 in Edmonton.

“Since completing revitalization of our governance structure last year and broadening our membership base, the focus shifted to planning for where AFC wants to be next year and well into the future,” Broughton said.
AFC members will have the opportunity to demonstrate leadership on critical challenges facing the agri-food sector, to be a contributor to an independent source of knowledge on policy, market and competitive issues and to participate in a high-level forum with other members, AFC staff and industry leaders.
AFC can admit new members at any time during the year, but only approved applications with payment received by May 10 will be entitled to make motions or participate in voting at the 2011 AGM, featuring entrepreneurs Chris Emery and Larry Finnson, the “Clodhopper” Guys, as the keynote speakers.
