Bourgault fined following accident

Glacier FarmMedia — Bourgault Industries, operating as Highline Manufacturing Ltd., has been fined $65,000 after a workplace accident two years ago.
The company pleaded guilty in Saskatoon Provincial Court July 22 to one violation of occupational health and safety regulations.
The charge was laid after an incident in Vonda, Sask., June 22, 2022, when a worker was seriously injured while flushing highly flammable solvent through an electrostatic paint gun.
Two other charges were withdrawn.
The guilty plea was for contravening clause 3-1 (a): being an employer, fail to comply with the duties of an employer at a place of employment including the provision and maintenance of a plant, systems of work and working environments that ensure, as far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare at work of the employers’ workers, resulting in the serious injury of a worker.
The court-imposed fine is $46,428.57, plus a surcharge of $18,571.43.
