Campaign seeks public support for farmers

The Canadian Cattlemen’s Association, the Canadian Federation of Agriculture and other groups have launched a new advocacy campaign aimed at raising public awareness of the support farmers require because of the pandemic.

Called “Food for Thought,” the campaign focuses on the rising cost of food, the number of jobs that agriculture employs and how the future of the country is tied to our ability to produce food.

The campaign also urges people to send a letter to their local MP to demonstrate their support for farmers.

“The goal of the campaign is to encourage the public to voice their support for increased investment in the agriculture sector from the federal government,” the CCA said.

Other participating groups include Syngenta, Nutrien and the Canadian Pork Council.
