One of the primary the issues discussed at the Recognizing Rural Canada event was high-speed internet access for rural communities.

The counties of Parkland, Brazeau, Lac Ste. Anne and Yellowhead are looking for people to fill out an online survey as part of their proposal to the Canadian Smart Cities Challenge, sponsored by Infrastructure Canada.

This proposal has been selected as one of the 20 national finalists, and is the only one about agriculture. The counties are developing a final proposal to compete for $10 million.

A suite of tools is being developed that will transform the agricultural community in the region and beyond.

For more info and a link to the survey, visit ‘Smart Parkland’ on the Parkland County website.
