New Brunswick producer acclaimed as CCA president

New Brunswick producer Nathan Phinney will continue as president of the Canadian Cattle Association for the coming year.

Phinney, who was acclaimed at the group’s recent AGM, took over the role in December following the sudden passing of Reg Schellenberg.

Tyler Fulton, the past president of Manitoba Beef Producers, was acclaimed as vice-president.

Joining the organization’s board are Albertans Jana Harman, Graham Overguard, Greg Schmidt and Curtis Vander Heyden. They replace Alberta’s departing reps: Melissa Downing, Sheila Hillmer, Brad Osadczuk and Cathy Sharp.

The association also welcomed the full restoration of market access into Japan. This move lifts the last set of restrictions put in place by Japan after the discovery of a case of BSE in 2003.
