Winnipeg, May 17 – Chickpea farmers in Australia are being advised to closely monitor their crops this year for ascochyta blight. An official with the South Australian Research and Development Institute says all current varieties are now rated as either susceptible or moderately susceptible to infection, according to a report in The Flinder News.
Bids for kabuli chickpeas (10mm) on the Canadian Prairies are hanging steady, according to the latest information from the Prairie Ag Hotwire. Prices are locked in a range of 69 to 70 cents per pound.
Yellow peas are in a range of C$7.77 to C$9.60 per bushel.
Black beans are listed at an average price of 41 cents per pound.
Strong pulse exports helped Idaho increase its agricultural export value for the first time since 2014. According to a report on the Capital Press, the value of ag exports during the first quarter of 2017 was 1.3 percent higher than over the same time last year. Kidney beans and chickpeas were the main pulse exports, followed by peas, lentils and black beans.
