Winnipeg, Dec. 3 – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian and world pulse markets on Thursday, December 3.
– Shortages and resulting high local prices in India remain at the forefront of the global pulse market. The country`s commerce ministry held a meeting with importers and other parties today to discuss strategies for dealing with the situation. Both the possibility of increasing imports and the need to better account for domestic supplies in storage were discussed.
– BASF has registered “the first truly systemic fungicide treatment for use on pulses and flax,” called INSURE PULSE. The seed treatment will be available for the 2016 season and combines the three active ingredients of XEMIUM, Pyraclostrobin, and Metalaxyl.

– Green pea prices in the C$8.00 to C$8.75 per bushel range are being reported in Western Canada. Meanwhile, yellow peas are still firm, with bids as high as C$10.50 per bushel found in some locations. Red lentil bids as high as 51 cents per pound are being reported in some locations, while number 2 large green lentils are now hitting prices as high as 60 cents.
