Winnipeg, March 7 (CNS Canada) – Canadian agriculture minister Lawrence MacAulay is in India this week leading a trade delegation. The issue of Canadian pulse exports to India is expected to be near the top of the agenda, as a March 31 deadline that would see India implement stricter fumigation rules (and effectively stop Canadian pulses from entering the country) fast approaches.

Global pulse production outside of India is expected to decline to about 54 million tonnes in 2017, from 55.6 million the previous year, according to a report from STAT Publishing that cited lower prices and expectations for a return to average yields.
