Pulses: Chickpeas dipping into Australian wheat acres

Winnipeg, March 15 – Laird number one lentils fell 2 cents
during the past week, according to the Prairie Ag Hotwire.
Prices are now listed at 45 to 56 cents per pound in Western
Canada.
Prices for Laird number two varieties fell eight cents per
bushel and are listed at 40 to 48 cents per pound.
Kidney beans are up one and a half cents on the week across
the Prairies and are now drawing bids of 46 cents per pound.
A report on Stockandland.com says chickpeas and canola are
putting a serious dent in Australian wheat plantings. Wheat
plantings will be down by one percent in 2017-18 to 12.8 million
acres.
