Pulses: Crimson lentils soften

Winnipeg, February 27 – Crimson lentils dropped by one cent
over the weekend, according to the Prairie Ag Hotwire. Crimson
number one varieties fell to a range of 23 to 25 cents per
pound.
Prices for green peas in Western Canada are holding steady
at C$7.80-$9.00 per pound. Yellow peas are also staying firm at
C$7.50-$9.00 per pound.
It’s an uncertain time for Canadian pea exporters though,
as they wait to see whether India can be persuaded to drop its
pending requirement that Canada fumigate pulses shipments with
methyl bromide before they make their way overseas.
Japan has proposed changes to the maximum pesticide residue
levels allowed in imports of things like fieldpeas, broadbeans,
dry beans and other pulses. Pesticides on the list include
Isofetamid, Sulfoxaflor, Famoxadone, and Fenazaquin.
