Winnipeg, August 25 (CNS Canada) – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian and world pulse markets on Thursday, August 25.
– South Africa’s dry edible bean harvest continues to decline, according to the latest crop report released by the South Africa Grain Information Service. This year’s seeded area stayed at 34,300 hectares, compared to 64,000 hectares last year, and production dropped 300 tonnes to 34,445 tonnes.
– Brazil has offered to cultivate pulses for India, and in response India is now preparing a detailed proposal, according to reports. India will provide the required seeds and Brazil will test the seeds and grow the pulses for them.
– Top end yellow pea prices dropped seven cents to settle at C$7.55 per bushel in Western Canada, according to Prairie Ag Hotwire. Top end green peas remained steady at C$8.00 per bushel.
– Desi chickpea prices in Western Canada remain steady, trading at 31.0 cents per pound, according to Prairie Ag Hotwire.
