Winnipeg, August 25 (CNS) – It seems there is a bright spot to the latest drought in Australia. According to a report in farmonline.com, analysts say disease problems could be much lighter this year than last. Paul McIntosh of Pulse Australia says outbreaks of ascochyta, sclerotinia and phytophthera could be much lower due to the dry conditions. Prior to planting, most anlaysts expected the diseases to have a big year.
Laird #2 lentils fell two cents, according to the latest information from the Prairie Ag Hotwire. Bids are listed at 37 to 43 cents per pound.
Navy beans in Manitoba fell half a cent during the past week and are now going for 34 cents a pound.
Kabuli chickpeas (10mm) declined five cents last week and are now priced at 59 to 63 cents a pound.
Bids for yellow peas on the Prairies were holding steady at C$7.20 to C$8.25 per bushel.
