Winnipeg, June 19 (CNS Canada) – Canada exported only 600 tonnes of peas during the week ended June 11, according to the latest Canadian Grain Commission weekly report. However, total exports-to-date are still about a million tonnes ahead of the year-ago pace, with 3.235 million tonnes exported during the 2016/17 crop-year-to-date.
Total Canadian pea exports for 2016/17 are now forecast to hit 3.8 million tonnes, according to updated supply/demand estimates from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. That would be up by 200,000 tonnes from the May estimate, and well above the 2.6 million tonnes sold the previous year.

Top end large green lentil bids have softened over the week, with number 2 Lairds currently topping out at about 42 cents per pound, according to Prairie Ag Hotwire data. New crop bids, meanwhile, range from about 31 to 40 cents per pound.
Red lentil bids range from about 23 to 26.5 cents per pound, with new crop prices also topping out at 25 cents.
Top-end green pea bids range from C$8.00 to C$8.75 per bushel in Western Canada, while yellow peas range from C$7.81 to C$9.75 per bushel. New crop pea prices top out at C$8.50 for green peas and C$8.25 for yellows.
Large calibre (10mm) kabuli chickpeas are currently seeing prices as high as 66 cents per pound in some cases, with new crop pricing as high as 52 cents per pound.
