Pulses: India contemplates Afghanistan pulses

Winnipeg, July 19 (CNS Canada) – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian and world pulse markets on Tuesday, July 19.

– India is looking at the possibility of importing pulses from Afghanistan to boost domestic supply and control retail prices, according to reports.

– Field peas in Manitoba are advancing quickly, according to the province’s most recent crop report. Field pea aphids are being found and monitored in eastern Manitoba, although numbers vary greatly from field to field.

– Pinto beans in Manitoba remained steady, with top prices settling at 33 cents a pound, according to Prairie Ag Hotwire.

– Desi chickpea prices in Western Canada remain steady, trading at 31.0 cents per pound. Large caliber kabuli chickpeas saw a four cent drop in the last week to 54 cents per pound.
