Winnipeg, Aug. 30 (CNS Canada) – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian and world pulse markets on Tuesday, August 30.
– Field peas in central Manitoba are mostly harvested, although some fields remained too wet to combine, according to the latest crop report from Manitoba Agriculture. Yields ranged from 15 to 40 bushels per acre. The yields compare to a provincial average of 43 bushels per acre the previous year, according to reports. Quality and disease issues were noted in the crop by some industry participants.

– Soybeans continue to mature in Manitoba, according to the weekly report, while some of the most advanced edible bean fields were being harvested.
– India’s Haryana state is implementing two new programs to increase pulse production in the region – the ‘National Food Security Mission-Pulses’ and the ‘Additional Area Coverage for Increasing Pulses Production Programme.’
– Number 2 Laird lentils are currently topping out at about 45 cents per pound in Western Canada, according to Prairie Ag Hotwire data. Red lentils are bid at up to 34 cents per pound.
– Green pea prices range from C$7.10 to as high as C$8.00 per bushel in Western Canada. Yellow peas range from C$6.15 to C$7.08 per bushel.
