Pulses: Saskatchewan pulse crops accelerating

Winnipeg, July 8 (CNS Canada) – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian and world pulse markets on Friday, July 8.

– Saskatchewan’s pulse crops are developing at an above average pace, according to the latest Saskatchewan Agriculture crop report. Three per cent of pulse crops are podding in the province, while another 69 per cent are flowering.

– Field pea exports from France dropped in May with movement slowing to all export destinations, according to reports. Export shipments in May totaled 19,995 tonnes, compared to 42,165 tonnes shipped in April.

– Top end green pea prices remained steady at C$9.75 per bushel in Western Canada, and top end yellow pea prices also remained steady at C$9.65 per bushel, according to Prairie Ag Hotwire.

– Chickpea prices in Western Canada remain steady, with desi chickpeas trading at 31 cents per pound and large caliber kabuli chickpeas saw trading at 54 cents per pound.
