Winnipeg, December 14 – Pinto beans have fallen by two cents on the week in Manitoba. They are currently going for 38 cents per pound, according to the Prairie Ag Hotwire.

Green peas in North Dakota fell by a quarter of a cent overnight, with bids ranging from C$7.87 to C$8.86 cents per bushel. The same peas were going for C$8.00 to C$9.50 in Western Canada, according to data from Prairie Ag Hotwire.

US pea acreage is forecast to rise in 2016/17 by 11 percent to 1.3 million acres, according to the USDA. The lion’s share of the increase has been traced to North Dakota.

According to a report on bepa.co.uk, Egypt is making efforts to crack down on the amount of edible beans being sold on the black market.
