Pulses: Yellow pea bids jump on CDN Prairies

Winnipeg, November 29 – Western Canadian yellow peas are strengthening in Western Canada. Bids at the top end jumped from C$8.55 to C$8.75 per bushel between Monday (Nov 28) to Tuesday (Nov 29), according to the Prairie Ag Hotwire. Green pea prices held steady at C$7.50 to as high as C$9.00 per bushel.
Lentils are also showing some signs of life as well. Laird #2 lentils are up three cents per pound on the week with bids ranging between 50 to 63 cents (CDN) at elevators, according to the Prairie Ag Hotwire. Laird #1 lentils are holding steady with bids ranging from 61 to 66 cents per pound.
Kabuli chickpeas are also holding firm with prices for large calibre (10mm) varieties coming in at 64 to 65 cents per pound.
According to a report by APK-Inform agency, Russian pea exports held steady during the week of November 21-27, with 3,000 tonnes shipped out from Russian sea ports.
