The front page of the Nov. 29 edition of the Alberta Farmer featured dramatic photos of Tank Hill — about 70 metres of Highway 1 were washed out and a section of the CP Rail line was suspended in the air — following the devastating flooding in B.C (photo 1).
Since then a massive reconstruction effort has been taking place in dozens of locations, including at Tank Hill. Culverts have been installed and covered with massive amounts of fill (photo 2).
The most recent photo from the provincial Highway Department shows a temporary level crossing that opened in mid-January, just two months after the washout (photo 3).
