A new online course is offering a number of free business modules for farmers.

A new online business course has been created for farmers who want to “take their agribusiness to the next level.”

The course, called Foundations in Agricultural Management, is free and is being offered by the University of Guelph’s ag college.

“Getting Ontario Agricultural College’s institutional knowledge into the hands of producers across Canada has always been a goal of ours,” Rene Van Acker, the college’s dean, said in a release.

Anti-separatist movement targets rural Alberta

The Alberta Forever Canada campaign has gained plenty of momentum throughout the province, especially in rural areas, and former deputy premier Thomas Lukaszuk wants to make sure agriculture is a key part of the conversation.

The course has eight modules covering topics such as business planning, financial literacy, risk management, managing people, mental health, and succession. It is taught by eight different professors, including well-known experts such as Alfons Weersink and Mike von Massow.

The program will be offered four times per year over the next two years (in the winter, spring, summer and fall).

Participants can take each module “at their own pace” and complete them as their schedule allows. For more info or to enrol, go to guelphagriculturalmanagement.com.
