These and other questions are explored in an online learning platform called Project Agriculture, an initiative started by the province’s supply-managed farm groups and which is now being bolstered by Alberta’s big four crop commissions.
“The program allows students and teachers the flexibility to use a project-based approach or implement short and focused activities that bring Alberta’s robust agriculture sector to the forefront of the classroom,” the four commissions said in a release.

The website, projectagriculture.ca, is composed of modules featuring videos, infographics and study topics. There is one section for junior high students and another for those in elementary school.
The initiative, which is funded by both the provincial and federal governments, is being promoted to educators at teacher conferences and professional development sessions.
